Nevada City became fully metered in 1979. However, at the time of meter installation, the focus was on residential and commercial meters. Meters were not installed on several of the City facilities and City-owned properties.
The City will purchase and install the meters and develop a variety of water conservation opportunities/strategies, including irrigation efficiency. The City will then be able to monitor the effectiveness of the installed improvements and/or strategies.
Current Status (September 2016)
The City purchased the meters in November 2015, with the Installation of Meters on City Facilities project completed in March 2016.
To support meter installation and water management, the City finalized a Meter Installation Plan (MIP) which addressed the size of the required meters, the sequencing of installation, and the process for regular meter reading. The MIP was competed in December 2015 and the meters installed in the first quarter of 2016.
